Underdog is a three episode McPherson Media Group documentary produced by News senior photographer Megan Fisher and reporter Jay Bryce.
The Shepparton News followed the Shepparton Gators throughout their 2024 season, for what was their first time in the Big V Championship in two decades, documenting the team’s highs and lows, capturing the essence of what makes the Gators and their story so unique to the sporting community in Shepparton.
This project is the culmination of a huge amount of work behind the scenes, but would not have been possible without the help and support of the Gators — from fans to officials, administrators and coaches to the players themselves — as well as the wider Greater Shepparton Basketball Association.
